Don't let others define your worth from "summary" of Bossypants by Tina Fey

We are constantly bombarded with messages about how we should look, act, and be in order to be considered valuable in society. But who gets to decide what makes someone worthy? Why should we let others dictate our worth based on their narrow standards and expectations? In a world that is quick to judge and label, it can be easy to fall into the trap of seeking validation from others. We may find ourselves trying to fit into molds that were never meant for us, just to feel accepted or approved by those around us. But the truth is, no one else has the right to determine our value or define who we are as individuals. We must remember that our worth is not determined by the opinions or judgments of others. Our value comes from within - from our own beliefs, actions, and the way we choose to live our lives. We have the power to define ourselves and to set our own standards for what makes us valuable and worthy. When we allow others to define our worth, we give away our power and agency. We relinquish control over our own lives and allow external forces to dictate how we should feel about ourselves. But when we take ownership of our worth and refuse to let others undermine it, we reclaim our autonomy and assert our right to self-determination. It is important to remember that we are the masters of our own destiny. We have the ability to shape our own identities and determine our own worth. By recognizing our inherent value and refusing to let others define it for us, we empower ourselves to live authentically and unapologetically. We are worthy simply because we exist, and no one else has the authority to tell us otherwise.
