Unconscious knowledge can be tapped into from "summary" of Blink by Malcolm Gladwell

Our unconscious mind is like a vast reservoir of knowledge that we are not consciously aware of. It is constantly absorbing and processing information, even when we are not actively paying attention. This unconscious knowledge can be incredibly powerful, as it can help us make quick decisions and judgments without having to consciously think through every detail. In the book 'Blink', Malcolm Gladwell explores the idea that we can tap into this unconscious knowledge to make better decisions in certain situations. He uses examples from various fields, such as art, music, and sports, to show how experts are able to rely on their intuition and gut feelings to make split-second decisions that turn out to be highly accurate. One example Gladwell discusses is the story of an art expert who was able to determine that a supposedly ancient Greek statue was actually a fake, simply by looking at it for a few seconds. The expert couldn't explain how he knew it was a fake, but he trusted his gut feeling and turned out to be right. Gladwell also talks about the concept of "thin-slicing", which is the idea that we can make accurate judgments about a person or situation based on very limited information. He explains that our unconscious mind is constantly making connections and associations that we are not consciously aware of, allowing us to make quick judgments that are often surprisingly accurate.
  1. Absorbing and processing information, we can learn to trust our intuition and tap into this vast reservoir of knowledge. This can help us make better decisions in a variety of situations, from choosing a piece of art to making a split-second decision in a high-pressure situation. Ultimately, tapping into our unconscious knowledge can give us an edge in decision-making and help us navigate the complexities of the world around us.
