You have to be willing to revise and rewrite if you want to be a good writer. This is not an option, it is a necessity. Writing is messy work, and your first draft will almost certainly not be your best work. But that's okay. The key is to keep working at it, to keep revising and rewriting until you get it right. When you revise, you have to be willing to make tough decisions. You may have to cut out entire paragraphs, or even whole chapters.
