Let go of the ego from "summary" of Bhagvat Gita, Song of God by Dr. Roopnarine Singh MD FRCPC

The concept of letting go of the ego is a central teaching in the Bhagavad Gita. The ego is often seen as the source of suffering and delusion, causing us to identify with our temporary physical bodies and material possessions. By letting go of the ego, we are able to connect with our true self, which is eternal and unchanging. When we are attached to our ego, we are constantly seeking validation and approval from others. This need for external validation can lead to feelings of insecurity and anxiety, as we are always striving to maintain a certain image or reputation. However, when we let go of the ego, we are able to find inner peace and contentment, as we no longer rely on others for our sense of self-worth. Letting go of the ego also allows us to transcend the duality of the material world. When we are caught up in our ego, we are constantly seeking pleasure and avoiding pain, leading to a cycle of desire and aversion. By releasing our attachment to the ego, we are able to see beyond the dualities of life and connect with the divine presence that exists within all of us. Furthermore, letting go of the ego enables us to cultivate a sense of humility and compassion towards others. When we are driven by the ego, we are often focused on our own needs and desires, neglecting the well-being of those around us. However, when we release our attachment to the ego, we are able to see the interconnectedness of all beings and act with kindness and empathy towards others.
