Cultivate virtues from "summary" of Bhagvat Gita, Song of God by Dr. Roopnarine Singh MD FRCPC
The cultivation of virtues is a fundamental aspect of the teachings in the Bhagavad Gita. Virtues are the qualities that define our character and guide our actions. By cultivating virtues, we are able to align ourselves with our higher self and live a more meaningful and fulfilling life. In the Bhagavad Gita, virtues such as compassion, humility, truthfulness, and self-discipline are emphasized as essential for spiritual growth and self-realization. These virtues are seen as the foundation for a life of wisdom and righteousness. Cultivating virtues involves a conscious effort to cultivate positive qualities within ourselves and to overcome negative tendencies. This process requires self-awareness, introspection, and a willingness to change and grow. By cultivating virtues, we are able to overcome our ego and connect with our true nature. The Bhagavad Gita teaches that virtues are not static traits but are qualities that must be continually nurtured and developed. Just as a farmer must tend to his crops to ensure a bountiful harvest, so too must we cultivate our virtues to ensure spiritual growth and self-realization. Through the practice of cultivating virtues, we are able to purify our mind and heart, and align ourselves with the divine. As we cultivate virtues such as love, compassion, and kindness, we are able to transcend our limitations and experience a deep sense of connection with the universe.- The cultivation of virtues is a transformative process that enables us to live a life of purpose, meaning, and fulfillment. By embodying virtues such as love, compassion, and truthfulness, we are able to realize our true potential and live in harmony with the world around us.
