Morality cannot be built on fear or coercion, for such a foundation is weak and ultimately unsustainable. When individuals are made to adhere to a certain moral code out of fear of punishment or the threat of coercion, they are not truly embracing that morality. Instead, they are merely following orders, devoid of any genuine understanding or belief in the principles they are meant to uphold.
True morality must come from within, from a place of genuine conviction and understanding. It cannot be imposed from the outside through threats or manipulation. To base morality on fear is to deny individuals the opportunity to develop their own sense of right and wrong, to think critically about their actions, and to make choices based on their own values and beliefs.
