The Self is a continuous project from "summary" of Being and Nothingness by Jean-Paul Sartre

The self is not a fixed entity but rather a dynamic and ongoing process. It is not something that is predetermined or given; rather, it is something that is constantly being created and re-created through our actions and choices. In other words, the self is not something that we have, but something that we do. Our sense of self is not something that is simply there, waiting to be discovered or uncovered. It is something that is actively constructed through our interactions with the world and with others. Our sense of self is always in flux, always changing and evolving in response to the various situations and challenges that we encounter. This continuous project of self-construction is not something that happens automatically or effortlessly. It requires conscious effort and reflection on our part. We must constantly be aware of the choices we make and the actions we take, as these are what shape and define our sense of self. At the same time, our sense of self is not something that is completely within our control. We are always subject to external influences and forces that can shape and mold our sense of self in ways that we may not always be aware of. Our sense of self is thus a complex interplay between our own agency and the various external factors that impinge upon us. In this sense, the self is both a product of our own making and a product of the world in which we live. It is a continuous project that is never truly complete, as we are always in the process of becoming who we are. Our sense of self is thus a dynamic and ever-changing entity that is always in flux, always in the process of being created and re-created.
