Humans are complex beings with behavior influenced by various factors from "summary" of Behave by Robert M. Sapolsky

Humans are like no other species. We are capable of incredible acts of kindness and generosity, yet we are also capable of unspeakable cruelty and violence. What sets us apart is our complexity - our behavior is influenced by a myriad of factors, both internal and external. Our genetic makeup plays a significant role in shaping who we are. Genes determine everything from our physical characteristics to our predisposition for certain behaviors. However, genes are not destiny. Our environment also plays a crucial role in shaping our behavior. The world we live in, the people we interact with, and the experiences we have all contribute to who we become. But it doesn't stop there. Our brain, the most complex organ in our body, also plays a critical role in shaping our behavior. The intricate network of neurons firing in our brain dictates how we perceive the world, how we make decisions, and how we react to various stimuli. Our brain is constantly processing information from the environment, integrating it with our genetic predispositions, and producing an output - our behavior. Furthermore, our behavior is influenced by our past experiences and memories. The things we have learned, the traumas we have endured, and the successes we have achieved all shape how we behave in a given situation. Our behavior is a culmination of our past, present, and future - a complex interplay of genetics, environment, brain activity, and past experiences. In order to truly understand human behavior, we must take into account all of these factors. We cannot simply attribute our actions to one single cause; rather, we must consider the intricate web of influences that shape who we are. Only by recognizing the complexity of human behavior can we begin to unravel the mysteries of why we do what we do.
