Let go of the past to experience the present fully from "summary" of Be As You Are by Sri Ramana Maharshi
The past is always with us, burdening us with memories and regrets. It is like a heavy weight that we carry on our shoulders, preventing us from fully experiencing the present moment. We are constantly looking back, reliving old experiences and dwelling on past mistakes. But this does us no good. It only serves to keep us trapped in a cycle of suffering and discontent. If we want to truly experience the present moment, we must learn to let go of the past. This is not an easy task, as our minds are deeply conditioned to hold onto memories and attachments. But it is essential if we want to find peace and contentment in the here and now. We must learn to release our grip on the past, to stop clinging to what has already happened and instead focus on what is happening right now. When we let go of the past, we free ourselves from its grip. We no longer allow old wounds to dictate our present experience. We can fully immerse ourselves in the present moment, allowing it to unfold naturally and without resistance. We can see things as they truly are, without the distorting lens of past experiences clouding our vision. By releasing our attachment to the past, we open ourselves up to the beauty and wonder of the present moment. We can fully engage with life as it is happening, without being weighed down by what has already come to pass. We can appreciate the richness of each moment, savoring the sights, sounds, and sensations that are all around us. In letting go of the past, we find a sense of freedom and liberation. We are no longer bound by old patterns of thought and behavior. Instead, we are able to meet each moment with a sense of openness and curiosity. We can embrace life in all its fullness, unencumbered by the burdens of the past. So, if we truly want to experience the present moment fully, we must learn to let go of the past. Only then can we find true peace and contentment in the here and now. Letting go is not a one-time event but a continual practice, a constant surrender to the flow of life. It is only by releasing our attachment to the past that we can truly be as we are.Similar Posts
