Objectivism, a way of life from "summary" of Ayn Rand by Ayn Rand

Objectivism is an individual-centric philosophy of life which emphasizes the importance of rational thinking and individual responsibility. It encourages individuals to pursue their own life goals and values without relying on the opinions of others.
  1. Objectivism is a way of living that emphasizes the importance of individualism and freedom contrasted to the rules and regulations imposed by outside forces. It promotes independent thinking and encourages taking responsibility for personal actions, beliefs and decisions.

  3. According to objectivists, humans should focus on observing reality objectively—through reason and facts—instead of relying on feelings, emotions, or traditional conventions. They advocate for self-reliance, in contrast to forms of collectivism like socialism, which rely on communal decision-making processes.
  4. The goal of an objectivist is to live life by rational principles: seek knowledge and evidence through logical means, form assessments based on facts, and act in the pursuit of their own happiness. In essence, this involves working towards one's own goals rather than sacrificing what is important to them.
  5. An objectivist point of view encourages coming up with personal judgments based on validity, therefore there is no single right answer when it comes to decision making. People have a right to their own opinion regardless if it is disagreed upon by others.
  6. Although objectivism values self-interest over group interests, objectivists recognize some social relationships can exist without sacrificing one’s individuality. There are voluntary exchanges of mutual benefit between people; ones that do not entail any obligations other than those which are consistent with their own values and actions.
