Forbidden to learn from "summary" of Autobiografía de un esclavo by Juan Francisco Manzano

It was a cruel edict, imposed upon us with no mercy or compassion. The mere thought of seeking knowledge was forbidden, a sin punishable by severe consequences. We were deprived of the basic human right to expand our minds, to explore the world through the lens of education. The shackles of ignorance were placed upon us, chaining us to a life of darkness and oppression. Despite the oppressive nature of this decree, a glimmer of hope remained within us. Deep within our souls, a burning desire for knowledge flickered, refusing to be extinguished. We hungered for the light of learning, yearning to break free from the chains that bound us. The desire to learn was a flame that could not be snuffed out, a force that drove us to seek knowledge in secret, away from the prying eyes of our oppressors. In the dead of night, when all was quiet and still, we would gather in hidden corners to share scraps of knowledge with one another. We would pass around tattered books, their pages worn from years of use, eager to absorb whatever wisdom they contained. We whispered words of wisdom to each other, passing on the knowledge that had been denied to us in the light of day. But even in the darkness, we were not safe from the watchful eyes of those who sought to keep us ignorant. Our clandestine gatherings were constantly at risk of being discovered, our thirst for knowledge a dangerous secret to be kept hidden at all costs. The fear of punishment loomed over us like a dark cloud, threatening to snuff out the flickering flame of learning that burned within us. And yet, despite the risks and the dangers, we persisted. We refused to let our minds be shackled by the chains of ignorance, determined to break free from the oppressive decree that sought to keep us in darkness. We clung to the hope that one day, we would be free to learn openly, to seek knowledge without fear of reprisal. And in that hope, we found the strength to persevere, to continue the fight for the right to learn.
