The mind is a tool, not your true essence from "summary" of Atmamun by Kapil Gupta, M.d.
The mind is a tool. It is not your true essence. This is a fundamental truth that we must come to understand. Too often, we allow our minds to dictate our reality, to define who we are. But in reality, the mind is just a tool that we use to navigate the world. It is not the essence of who we are. When we identify too strongly with our thoughts, beliefs, and emotions, we become trapped in a cycle of suffering. We believe that our thoughts are who we are, that our emotions define us. But this is a false notion. Our true essence lies beyond the mind, beyond our thoughts and emotions. To break free from this cycle of suffering, we must learn to see the mind for what it is: a tool that we can use, but that does not define us. When we can observe our thoughts without becoming attached to them, when we can experience our emotions without being consumed by them, we begin to touch upon our true essence. Our true essence is that which lies beyond the mind. It is the pure awareness that exists underneath all of our thoughts and emotions. It is the stillness that remains when the mind falls silent. When we can connect with this essence, we find freedom from the constant chatter of the mind.- The mind is a tool. It is not your true essence. When you can see this truth clearly, when you can separate yourself from the constant stream of thoughts and emotions, you will begin to touch upon the essence of who you truly are. And in that essence, you will find peace, freedom, and true fulfillment.
