Government intervention from "summary" of Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand
Government intervention is the interference of the state in the economy. It is the use of force to control the actions of individuals and businesses, to regulate their behavior, to dictate their decisions. It is the imposition of rules, regulations, restrictions, and prohibitions on the free exchange of goods and services. It is the violation of individual rights, the suppression of freedom, the destruction of competition, the distortion of prices, the misallocation of resources. It is the initiation of force against those who produce, against those who trade, against those who create wealth. Government intervention is based on the belief that the state knows best, that central planners are more capable than entrepreneurs, that bureaucrats are more competent than businessmen. It is the arrogance of power, the hubris of politicians, the conceit of collectivists. It is the denial of individual responsibility, the rejection of personal initiative, the disdain for individual achievement. It is the subordination of the individual to the collective, the sacrifice of the individual to the group, the subjugation of the individual to the state. Government intervention is the enemy of progress, the foe of prosperity, the obstacle to success. It is the cause of poverty, of stagnation, of decline. It is the reason for shortages, for inefficiencies, for failures. It is the source of corruption, of favoritism, of cronyism. It is the root of injustice, of inequality, of exploitation. It is the threat to liberty, to property, to life. Government intervention is the antithesis of freedom, the antonym of capitalism, the antipode of individualism. It is the antithesis of entrepreneurship, the antonym of innovation, the antipode of productivity. It is the antithesis of prosperity, the antonym of wealth, the antipode of success. It is the antithesis of justice, the antonym of fairness, the antipode of equality. It is the antithesis of civilization, the antonym of progress, the antipode of enlightenment. Government intervention is the cause of the problems it claims to solve, the creator of the crises it purports to address, the enabler of the conflicts it seeks to resolve. It is the disease masquerading as the cure, the poison disguised as the antidote, the trap set as the escape. It is the lie presented as the truth, the fraud promoted as the reality, the illusion propagated as the fact. ItSimilar Posts
