Connecting with others on a deep level requires vulnerability from "summary" of Atlas of the Heart by Brené Brown

Connecting with others on a deep level is not for the faint of heart. It requires a willingness to be open and authentic, to show our true selves without fear of judgment or rejection. This vulnerability is what allows us to form genuine connections with those around us, to truly see and be seen. When we are willing to be vulnerable, we invite others to do the same. We create a space where honesty and openness can flourish, where true intimacy can take root. It is in this space that true connection is born, where we can forge relationships that are built on a foundation of trust and mutual understanding. But vulnerability is not easy. It requires us to let down our guard, to expose our fears and insecurities, to risk being hurt. It is a leap into the unknown, a gamble on the possibility of true connection. And yet, it is this very vulnerability that makes those connections so profound, so meaningful. In our quest for connection, we often put up walls to protect ourselves from harm. We hide behind masks of perfection, fearing that our true selves will not be accepted. But it is only when we are willing to tear down those walls, to shed those masks, that we can truly connect with others. It is only when we are vulnerable that we can experience the deep and meaningful relationships we crave. So let us embrace our vulnerability, let us open ourselves up to the possibility of connection. Let us be brave enough to show our true selves, to risk rejection in pursuit of authentic relationships. For it is only through vulnerability that we can truly connect with others on a deep level.
