Stay present in the moment from "summary" of Art of Living by Epictetus,Sharon Lebell

Stay present in the moment. Life is like a river, continually flowing. The past is gone, the future is uncertain. All we truly possess is the present moment. It is in the here and now that we have the power to act and make choices. By focusing on what is happening right in front of us, we can fully engage with the world around us. When we are consumed by regrets about the past or anxieties about the future, we lose sight of the only reality that truly matters – the present moment. This is not to say that we should ignore the lessons of the past or fail to plan for the future. Instead, we should simply recognize that dwelling on what has already happened or worrying about what might happen serves no purpose. By staying present in the moment, we can fully experience the richness of life. We can savor the taste of a delicious meal, the warmth of the sun on our skin, the laughter of a loved one. When we are fully engaged with what is happening right now, we can appreciate the beauty and wonder of the world around us. But staying present in the moment is not always easy. Our minds are constantly pulled in different directions by distractions, worries, and desires. It takes practice and discipline to train ourselves to focus on the present moment. Through mindfulness and self-awareness, we can learn to quiet the noise of our thoughts and be fully present in the here and now. When we are truly present in the moment, we can respond to life with wisdom and grace. We can make choices that align with our values and goals. We can appreciate the beauty and joy that surrounds us. Life is fleeting and unpredictable. By staying present in the moment, we can make the most of the time we have and live a life of purpose and meaning.
