Decentralize to increase flexibility from "summary" of Antifragile by Nassim Nicholas Taleb

By decentralizing, you create a system that can better withstand unexpected events. Each component of the system is empowered to act autonomously, making it more resilient to disturbances. This distributed structure allows for a more organic response to challenges, as opposed to a rigid top-down approach. When faced with a crisis, a decentralized system can quickly adapt and find solutions from various sources. Moreover, decentralization fosters innovation and creativity. When decision-making power is dispersed, it encourages experimentation and diversity of ideas. Different nodes can try out new approaches without having to seek approval from a central authority. This freedom to explore leads to a more dynamic and adaptive system. In contrast, a centralized system tends to stifle innovation by imposing uniformity and conformity. Decentralization also promotes a sense of ownership and accountability. When individuals or groups have the autonomy to make decisions, they take responsibility for the outcomes. This ownership motivates them to perform better and take care of the system as a whole. In a centralized system, on the other hand, there is a tendency to shift blame and evade responsibility, as decision-making is concentrated in a few hands.- Decentralizing power can lead to a more robust and flexible system. It allows for quicker responses to changing conditions, promotes innovation and creativity, and fosters a sense of ownership and accountability. In a world filled with uncertainties and disruptions, decentralization can be a powerful tool for building antifragility.
