In both Animal Farm and 1984, George Orwell vividly portrays the grim reality of how totalitarian regimes can lead to the erosion of individual freedoms. The characters in these novels are subjected to oppressive control by those in power, resulting in a sense of helplessness and loss of autonomy. In Animal Farm, the pigs gradually consolidate their power over the other animals on the farm, using propaganda and manipulation to maintain control. As the pigs become more dictatorial, the other animals find themselves increasingly restricted in their ability to make choices and express their opinions.
