Wolves in Yellowstone faced numerous threats, both natural and man-made. One of the greatest challenges they encountered was disease, specifically a deadly virus called canine parvovirus. This virus, which is highly contagious and often fatal, was inadvertently introduced to the wolf population by domestic dogs that roamed the outskirts of the park. The wolves had no immunity to this new threat, and it quickly spread through the pack, causing widespread illness and death. In addition to disease, wolves also faced threats from humans. Poaching, or illegal hunting, was a constant danger for the wolves of Yellowstone.
