Flashbacks to happier times from "summary" of All Your Perfects by Colleen Hoover
The memories hit me out of nowhere. One minute I’m folding laundry, the next minute I’m remembering how happy we used to be. It’s like a punch in the gut. The past few years have been so hard, so full of heartache and disappointment, that sometimes I forget there was a time when we were in love. When we were happy. It’s hard to remember those moments now, when all I feel is sadness and regret.
But every now and then, a memory will come back to me. A moment of pure joy, of perfect love. And it’s like a light in the darkness. I hold on to those memories, treasure them like precious jewels. They remind me that there was a time when we were happy, when we were in love. They give me hope that maybe, just maybe, we can find our way back to each other.
I close my eyes and let myself be transported back to those happier times. I remember the way he used to look at me, like I was the only thing that mattered in the world. I remember the sound of his laughter, the feel of his arms around me. I remember the way he used to make me feel, like I was the luckiest girl alive.
Those memories sustain me, give me the strength to keep going when everything seems hopeless. They remind me that love is worth fighting for, that we can overcome any obstacle together. And so I hold on to those memories, let them guide me through the darkness. Because even though the present is hard, the past is full of light. And maybe, just maybe, we can find our way back to each other, back to those happier times.
