The memories hit me out of nowhere. One minute I’m folding laundry, the next minute I’m remembering how happy we used to be. It’s like a punch in the gut. I remember the way he used to look at me, like I was the only thing that mattered in the world. I remember the sound of his laughter, the feel of his arms around me. I remember the way he used to make me feel, like I was the luckiest girl alive. Those memories sustain me, give me the strength to keep going when everything seems hopeless. They remind me that love is worth fighting for, that we can overcome any obstacle together. And so I hold on to those memories, let them guide me through the darkness. Because even though the present is hard, the past is full of light. And maybe, just maybe, we can find our way back to each other, back to those happier times.
