As I lay there, bound and blindfolded, I could feel the cruelty of my captors in every harsh word and violent gesture. They showed no mercy, no empathy for the fear and pain they inflicted upon me. It seemed as though their hearts were made of stone, incapable of even a glimmer of compassion.
But amidst the darkness of my captivity, I began to notice small acts of kindness from unexpected sources. The guard who brought me food sometimes whispered words of comfort, his eyes betraying a hint of sympathy. A fellow prisoner shared his meagre blanket with me on cold nights, offering a silent gesture of solidarity in our shared suffering.
