Resilient and determined to survive from "summary" of A Child Called It by Dave Pelzer
Throughout the pages of my story, I have shown that no matter how many times I was knocked down, I always found a way to get back up. Despite the unimaginable abuse and mistreatment I endured at the hands of my own mother, I never lost my will to survive. I was resilient, like a blade of grass that bends in the wind but never breaks.
From the moment I was born, I faced challenges that most children could never even imagine. My mother, who was supposed to love and protect me, instead became my worst nightmare. She subjected me to unspeakable acts of cruelty, both physical and emotional, that no child should ever have to endure. But through it all, I never gave up hope. I clung to the belief that one day, things would get better.
My determination to survive was unwavering, even in the face of overwhelming odds. I refused to let my mother's abuse crush my spirit or break my resolve. I drew strength from deep within myself, finding the courage to keep going even when it seemed like all was lost. I knew that I had to keep fighting, no matter how hard it became.
Even when I was at my lowest point, when I was weak and broken and on the brink of giving up, I found a way to persevere. I held onto the faint glimmer of hope that burned inside me, driving me forward despite the pain and suffering. I was like a phoenix rising from the ashes, reborn each time I survived another day of torment.
In the end, I emerged from the darkness stronger and more resilient than ever. I had faced the worst that life could throw at me and had come out the other side, battered but unbroken. My story is a testament to the power of the human spirit, to the indomitable will to survive against all odds. And though my journey was filled with pain and suffering, I never lost sight of the fact that I was a survivor, a fighter, a child called It.
