Unified theory of everything sought from "summary" of A Breif History of Time and the Universe in a Nutshell by Stephen Hawking

The ultimate goal of physics is to find a single theory that will unify all the laws of the universe. This theory, known as the unified theory of everything, would be able to explain everything in the universe, from the smallest subatomic particles to the largest galaxies. It would be a theory that could describe all the forces of nature and all the particles that make up the universe. Currently, there are two main theories that describe the forces of nature - general relativity, which describes the force of gravity, and quantum mechanics, which describes the forces of the other three fundamental forces of nature. These two theories have been incredibly successful in their respective domains, but they are fundamentally incompatible with each other. General relativity describes gravity as a curvature in spacetime caused by mass and energy, while quantum mechanics describes the other fundamental forces as the exchange of particles. These two descriptions of the universe are like two different languages that cannot be easily translated into each other. The quest fo...
