Black holes emit radiation from "summary" of A Breif History of Time and the Universe in a Nutshell by Stephen Hawking
According to the theory of quantum mechanics, pairs of particles and antiparticles are constantly being created out of nothing near the event horizon of a black hole. One of these particles falls into the black hole, while the other escapes into space. This process causes the black hole to lose mass, as the particle that falls in carries negative energy with it. As a result, the black hole appears to emit radiation, known as Hawking radiation. Hawking radiation is a form of thermal radiation that is emitted by black holes due to quantum effects near the event horizon. The energy for this radiation comes from the black hole itself, which loses mass as the radiation is emitted. This proces...Similar Posts
