Respect yourself and the decisions you make. It's important to take time to appreciate and understand yourself and the tremendous value you bring to the world. Recognize that you are allowed to be your own person and that your opinion matters.- Surround yourself with people who not only take into account your thoughts but also value and appreciate them; those people provide support which can bolster up positive self-respect.
- Give yourself permission to practice self-care, be kind to yourself and recognize that you are worthy regardless of any imperfections or shortcoming.
- Remind yourself that every mistake is an opportunity for learning – that mistakes are part of growing, developing and strengthening respect for yourself and your abilities.
- Spend time seeking out opportunities to learn something new and challenge yourself by doing difficult tasks; even if they don’t succeed, give yourself credit for attempting it.
- Settle comfortable boundaries between you and others; remember that respect starts at home so don’t let anyone else encourage behavior or encouragement that is detrimental to your wellbeing.
- Hard work and respect for yourself can go hand in hand; choose to honour your commitments and see how it can make a difference in the way you think about yourself and life.
- Don't resist change; both small and big changes can have the power to greatly affect our lives as long as we embrace them instinctively yet cautiously.
- Acknowledge the feelings of doubt and anxiety that will surface sometimes; these emotions are normal and do not reflect on our self-worth; the most important thing to do here is accept them and move forward.
- Appreciate what brings you joy and satisfaction and pursue those activities; anything from taking an art class to exploring a new cuisine can bring a feeling of self-fulfillment and allow us be content with ourselves.
