Practicing gratitude enhances wellbeing from "summary" of 365 Days of Positive Self-Talk by Shad Helmstetter Ph. D.

Developing a habit of acknowledging and appreciating the blessings in our lives is a powerful tool for enhancing our overall sense of wellbeing. By regularly practicing gratitude, we shift our focus from what we lack to what we have, cultivating a more positive mindset and outlook on life. This shift in perspective can lead to increased feelings of contentment, satisfaction, and happiness. When we take the time to reflect on the things we are grateful for, we are reinforcing positive neural pathways in our brains. This can help to counteract the natural tendency of our minds to fixate on negative thoughts and emotions.
