The Jap Ji is a sacred composition found in the sacred text of Sikhism known as the Sikhi Granth Sahib. Written by Guru Nanak, the Jap Ji is a spiritual discourse on the divine source of all creation and the realities of life. It begins with a declaration of faith and speaks of the nature of divine reality, the greatness of the divine, the mysteries of life, and the search for spiritual liberation. The Jap Ji is organized into a series of verses that are chanted as part of morning prayer, and a commentary that explains the spiritual meaning of the words. Its teachings guide a Sikh’s journey on the path to spiritual enlightenment.
