The China Study is a book by T. Colin Campbell, Jacob Gould Schurman Profesor Emeritus of Nutritional Biochemistry at Cornell University. The study examines the relationship between the consumption of animal products (including dairy) and chronic illnesses such as heart disease, diabetes, breast cancer, prostate cancer and bowel cancer. The book examines the research conducted in rural China and Taiwan that initially prompted further research into causation of chronic diseases by nutrition. While challenging much of the conventional wisdom on nutrition and health, the book emphasizes the need for observation and research on a case-by-case basis, as well as the importance of individual variation, instead of universal solutions.
