The Blind Side is a 2009 non-fiction book written by Michael Lewis. The book tells the story of Baltimore Ravens offensive tackle Michael Oher. Oher was born to a dysfunctional family and grew up living a hard life on the streets of Memphis. However, his luck changes when he is taken in by the Tuohy family. With the help of his adoptive family and the Tuohy’s commitment to give him every opportunity, Oher slowly transforms into the very first player in his family’s history to attend college. This narrative also recounts football’s role as an agent for social change in the Atlanta suburb of Collierville, where Michael’s story intersects with football’s history.
