🧘 Psychology
Predictably Rational is a book by acclaimed economist and behavioral scientist Dan Ariely that explores the way people make decisions and why we make decisions that aren't necessarily the best for us. The book argues that people often fail to make rational decisions due to various factors and proposes three laws of behavior that explain the dynamics of decision-making. Ariely also provides practical advice for improving our decision making and explains how companies use their understanding of behavior to influence us to their advantage. Throughout the book, Ariely explains why we sometimes do not act in our own best interest, as well as how to make better decisions. He also provides numerous examples of companies that use their knowledge of decision making to their advantage and suggests various methods of inoculating ourselves against these tactics.
