Into the Wild is a biographical adventure novel by Jon Krakauer, first published in 1996. It tells the true story of Christopher McCandless, a young man from a well-to-do family who, after graduating from college, sets out on a voyage of self-discovery across North America. For two years, he hitchhikes, camps, and survives in the wilderness with minimal supplies, living off the land and growing ever closer to nature. His journey takes him to the Alaskan wilderness, where he eventually perishes, having found the peace he was searching for. Along the way, Christopher meets a variety of interesting people and experiences a range of emotions, from joy and exhilaration to loneliness and despair. The book chronicles his physical and spiritual journey, exploring why he chose this path and how it ultimately led to his death.
