Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is the eighth story in the Harry Potter series and the first to be presented on stage. It is a special rehearsal script book, published to commemorate the opening of the play of the same name in London’s West End in July 2016. The story follows the events of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and is set nineteen years later. It focuses on the adventures of Harry Potter’s youngest son, Albus Severus Potter, and his friend, Scorpius Malfoy. Albus and Scorpius are sorted into Slytherin house at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and soon find themselves at the center of a plot to use a powerful time-turner to change the past and save Cedric Diggory. The play is written by Jack Thorne, based on a story by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany, and explores themes of friendship, family, love, and loyalty.
