Extreme Ownership: How U.S. Navy SEALs Lead and Win is a book by former Navy SEALs Jocko Willink and Leif Babin which provides leadership and management lessons based on the SEALs’ experience deployed in the Iraq War and drawn from their former SEAL team Task Unit Bruiser. It explains how to apply the principals of extreme ownership to business and life. Extreme ownership requires leaders to take full responsibility for their teams’ successes and failures, instead of assigning blame to other people or circumstances. The book provides lessons on how to master crisis situations, develop a culture of extreme ownership, and eliminate complex problems. It’s broken into three sections: part one explains the importance of taking extreme ownership, part two explains how to apply it to a team, and part three explains how to use it to solve complex problems. The book also includes stories and anecdotes to illustrate the authors’ points.
