Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee is a 1970 non-fiction book by Dee Brown that details the history of Native Americans in the American West in the late nineteenth century. Brown details the various injustices done to the Native Americans by the US government, including broken treaties and massacres, as well as the Native American's resistance to these injustices. Brown also introduces and discusses key individuals, both Native American and non-Native American, who were involved in this history. The book was highly influential in changing the public's perception of Native Americans and increasing awareness of their plight.
