Book of the Dead is an ancient Egyptian funerary text which was used from the beginning of the New Kingdom to around 50 BC. It was widely used and had a variety of versions and translations. The text contains a collection of spells and instructions that are meant to help the deceased in their journey to the afterlife. The text was written on papyrus and was often buried with the deceased. It contained prayers, incantations, and magical formulas to protect the deceased from evil forces and ensure their safe passage to the afterlife. The text also contained descriptions of the underworld and instructions on how to navigate it.
