Band of Brothers is a nonfiction book by historian Stephen E. Ambrose, originally published in 1992. It tells the story of Easy Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division, U.S. Army, who fought during World War II. The book follows the men of the company from jump training in the United States through all of their engagements in Europe, focusing on the actions of various members of the company. The book details the actions of the company in Operation Market Garden, the Battle of the Bulge, and the capture of Hitler's Eagle's Nest at Berchtesgaden. It is based on interviews with the surviving members of Easy Company, as well as personal diaries and other documents. The book was adapted into a television miniseries of the same name by HBO in 2001.
