"Afropean" is a book by Johny Pitts that chronicles a journey across Europe to document the influences, experiences, and stories of the Afropean people who make their home in this region. Pitts begins his journey in the French Caribbean colony of Martinique and moves through Paris, Berlin, and Amsterdam, among other cities. The book takes a look at how art, music, dance, food, history, and philosophy, among other subjects, are mixed together to create new cultural expressions of the Afropean experience. The result is a fascinating and invigorating tour of ideas and expressions of identity in increasingly connected times.
