A Woman Alone is a novel by Barbara Delinsky that follows the story of 36-year-old Emily Kingsley, a single and successful woman living in New York City. Emily is content with her life and career, but when she meets and begins to fall for Michael Donaghue, a handsome, wealthy Irish-American lawyer, she is forced to confront her fears and her past. As their relationship develops, Emily is forced to confront her own insecurities, her fears of commitment and of being hurt, and her lack of trust in men. At the same time, Michael faces his own struggles with his own family's expectations and his own feelings of ambivalence. Together, they must learn to trust each other and themselves if they are to find their happily ever after.
