In the education of the Negro, I believe that the emphasis should be placed on practical skills. This is not to say that academic knowledge is not important, but rather that practical skills are essential for the progress and success of the individual. When a student is equipped with practical skills, they are better prepared to navigate the challenges of the real world. These skills allow them to earn a living, support themselves, and contribute positively to society. In my experience, I have seen that a focus on practical skills leads to greater empowerment and self-reliance among students. By teaching them trades such as carpentry, agriculture, or cooking, we are giving them the tools they need to succeed in life. Furthermore, practical skills education instills a sense of pride and dignity in the individual. When a person is able to work with their hands and see the tangible results of their labor, they gain a sense of accomplishment that cannot be matched by academic knowledge alone. I have witnessed firsthand the transformative power of practical skills education. Students who have been trained in trades have gone on to build successful careers and businesses, lifting themselves out of poverty and creating a better future for themselves and their families.- I believe that emphasizing practical skills in education is crucial for the advancement of the Negro race. By equipping students with the tools they need to succeed in the real world, we are empowering them to take control of their own destinies and create a better future for themselves and their communities.
