Mindfulness involves bringing a spirit of curiosity and nonjudgment to our experiences from "summary" of The Mindfulness Solution by Ronald D. Siegel

Mindfulness invites us to approach our experiences with a sense of curiosity, as if we were seeing them for the first time. When we bring a spirit of curiosity to our present moment experiences, we open ourselves up to new possibilities and insights. Rather than assuming we know everything there is to know about a particular experience, we can approach it with a beginner's mind, eager to explore and learn. Nonjudgment plays a crucial role in mindfulness practice. By suspending our tendency to label experiences as good or bad, right or wrong, we create space for acceptance and understanding. Instead of getting caught up in a cycle of evaluation and criticism, we can simply observe our experiences as they are, without the need to change or fix them. This nonjudgmental attitude allows us to approach our experiences with openness and compassion, fostering a sense of peace and well-being. When we combine curiosity and nonjudgment in our mindfulness practice, we cultivate a sense of presence and awareness that transcends our usual modes of thinking and reacting. Instead of being driven by our habitual patterns and biases, we can engage with the richness and complexity of our present moment experiences. This spirit of curiosity and nonjudgment enables us to see things from a fresh perspective, opening the door to new insights and possibilities.
