Creativity is undervalued from "summary" of The Dilbert Principle by Scott Adams

Creativity is like a magical unicorn in the corporate world. It's rare, beautiful, and highly sought after, yet somehow it always seems to be overlooked and underappreciated. While everyone claims to value creativity, very few actually know how to cultivate and harness its power. In most organizations, creativity is seen as a luxury rather than a necessity. It's something that is nice to have but not essential for success. The focus is often on efficiency, productivity, and following established procedures. Creativity, on the other hand, is messy, unpredictable, and can't be easily quantified or measured. Creativity is often stifled by rigid hierarchies, fear of failure, and a culture that rewards conformity over innovation. Employees are discouraged from taking risks, thinking outside the box, or questioning the status quo. The result is a workforce that is afraid to speak up, experiment, or challenge the way things are done. Despite all the talk about fostering a culture of innovation, most organizations aren't willing to invest the time, resources, and effort required to truly support and nurture creativity. Instead, they rely on the same old strategies, processes, and solutions, hoping for different results. Creativity is the key to solving complex problems, adapting to change, and staying ahead of the competition. It's what sets great companies apart from mediocre ones and allows them to thrive in a rapidly evolving world. Yet, it is often treated as an afterthought or a nice bonus rather than a fundamental building block of success. If organizations truly want to succeed in today's fast-paced, highly competitive environment, they need to recognize the value of creativity and give it the attention and respect it deserves. Only then can they unleash the full potential of their employees and achieve sustainable growth and innovation.
