Be patient with yourself from "summary" of Catching the Big Fish by David Lynch

It's important to remember that ideas come in many different forms and at different times. Sometimes they come right away, fully formed and easy to grab hold of. Other times, they're more like elusive fish swimming just beneath the surface of the water, darting away whenever you get close. We can't force ideas to come to us any more than we can force a fish to jump into our boat. We have to be patient, to wait and watch and be ready for when the idea finally decides to reveal itself. This process takes time and practice, but it's worth it in the end. The key is not to get frustrated or discouraged when the ideas aren't coming as quickly as we'd like. Instead, we have to trust in the process, to believe that if we keep showing up and putting in the work, eventually the ideas will come. Being patient with ourselves means giving ourselves the time and space we need to let our ideas develop and grow. It means being gentle with ourselves, understanding that creativity is a delicate thing that needs to be nurtured and cared for. So the next time you're feeling stuck or blocked, take a deep breath and remind yourself to be patient. Trust that the ideas will come when they're ready, and that all you have to do is show up and be open to receiving them. It's a simple concept, but one that can make all the difference in the world when it comes to creating your best work.
