Meditations is a philosophical work by the Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius written in Greek. It comprises 12 books written to himself as a source of personal guidance and provides advice on how to live life and how to handle difficult situations. It is considered a cornerstone of Stoic philosophy and focuses on themes such as getting in touch with what is important and maintaining a positive outlook on life. The book stresses the importance of self-improvement and encourages readers to see life from an objective, non-emotional perspective. Throughout the book, Aurelius shares wisdom on how to deal with anger, frustration, poverty, health-care, death, and other unavoidable facts of life. Meditations has been highly influential throughout the centuries, particularly the Western philosophical thought.
